John Leedes Sir John Leedes (died 1656) was an English landowner and politician who sat in the House of Commons from 1621 to 1622. Leedes was the son of Thomas Leedes of Hopenthorne, Yorkshire and his wife Mary Leedes, daughter of Thomas Leedes of North Milford, Yorkshire.〔(Dugdale - Visitation of the County of York )〕 He was knighted at Whitehall on 8 January 1611 as of Surrey or Sussex.〔(Knights of England )〕 He and his parents owned property in Sussex part of which was sold in 1612.〔( 'Parishes: Piddinghoe', A History of the County of Sussex: Volume 7: The rape of Lewes (1940), pp. 66-69.
